Supporting and Encouraging Surviving and thriving for more than two decades in a rural area of northeast Kansas has taught our company the value of community relations and the need for corporate support. Bachelor Controls lends its support to community activities on both a corporate level and from the perspective of individual employees. The company has given generous financial contributions to worthy fundraising causes and has lent the time and services of individual employees on multiple occasions to perform civic obligations and serve on community projects. Bachelor Controls has been a sponsor and benefactor of multiple community endeavors, from local school functions and community-wide festivals to support for a new hospital wing and city building construction projects. The company has provided visible assistance in the form of an annual engineering scholarship, as well as contributing financial support and resources to other, less-publicized needs. Employees are encouraged to be active in community service, and the company provides flexibility to employees holding civic board positions and community leadership obligations. BCI employees have been elected mayor, served on civic boards, participated in Chamber of Commerce and economic development initiatives and volunteered for many local community activity leadership roles (such as Scouts, city festivals/events, local volunteer law enforcement and emergency services, youth sports coaching, fundraising projects, and historical preservation associations). Equally important, but often overlooked, is the
financial and charitable impact the company has internally in the
form of subsidies and gifts to employees. BCI subsidizes health club
memberships, shopping discount cards, recreational activities and
corporate clothing for all of its employees. BCI is an employee-owned
company, and a portion of profits go into the Employee Stock Ownership
Plan each year. In addition, employees are treated to at least two
company social functions each year. |
