PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE UTILITY

Avoid Surprise Outages and
Extended Downtime

Bachelor Controls has developed a flexible Preventative Maintenance Utility to monitor, log and inventory an unlimited number of components. The utility has a fixed number of locations (set by BCI) and the operator can monitor an unlimited amount of parts per location. Further, the operator can assign and monitor an unlimited number of alarms per part (in whatever unit of measurement is appropriate).

A Dynamic Record of Parts lnventory
The Preventative Maintenance Utility database supports automated usage tracking of multiple pieces of equipment and can interface with your production control system, ultimately alerting operators and/or maintenance personnel as service/calibration work needs to be completed. The control system monitors the usage of process equipment in units of measure such as hours, cycles, and tons of product. As a pre-set life expectancy of the part is reached, an alarm is depicted at the HMI and can also be sent via e-mail, hard copy work order etc., ultimately reducing downtime caused by part failure.

Reporting Tools
Reporting tools allow you to run multiple reports for effectively organizing and maintaining your parts inventory, including work order reports for routine maintenance, usage reports for purchasing decisions, and inventory reports for accounting purposes.

Compatibility
The Preventative Maintenance feature is flexible — manage the utility from virtually any computer on the plant network utilizing a Microsoft operating system.

Built-in Functionality with BCI AUTOPILOT®
BCI has included the Preventative Maintenance Utility with every installation of BCI AUTOPILOT® — the industry's first and most advanced automated cooking extrusion control system available.

According to a survey conducted by Intentia, nearly 68% of respondents said they allocate less than half of their maintenance budgets for preventive activities that reduce equipment failure and plant shutdown.

According to the findings, as reported by Food Engineering magazine (February 2005), more than 85% of the respondents agreed that preventive maintenance increases production and operations capacity, with almost two-thirds reporting that preventive maintenance gives them a competitive advantage.

Half of the respondents said they could limit their average annual cost for lost production to US$50,000 as a result of plant or equipment failure. Almost 7% of the companies reported an annual loss of production in excess of US$1 million.
