Simplify Dry Powder Blending and
IBC Handling / Containment

Dry powder blending is simplified with bin blending that reduces blend times and requires no cleanup between batches. Products only contact the bin, resulting in total product containment, immediate product changeover and no blender cleaning. Additionally, the system eliminates airborne and cross-contamination, product segregation and spillage risks.

The column blender offers more versatility than typical pedestal style blenders, serving as a column lift to lift and place IBCs. For combined suite systems, IBCs can be blended, then immediately moved over a tablet press for compression.

Unlike pedestal blenders, column blenders clamp IBCs from the sides on horizontally oriented side lugs allowing it to accommodate a wide range of IBC sizes. With lugs positioned at the IBC’s center of gravity, the height of the IBC is not a factor. Finally, two parallel vertical roller tracks support and guide the lift arms for maximum control and accuracy.

Better Blending Through Dual Action
Tumble blending is a dual action blending principle. The first blending action is produced by a wave action as the material is tumbled. This wave (or shear plane) occurs in the top fourth of the product load. The second blending action is produced by the cradle orientation. The IBC is held in the blender at an angle to position the IBC horizontal center of gravity 20 degrees from the blender tumbling centerline. This geometry places the IBC shell walls at cross-flow-producing angles to the blend axis, thus acting as baffles as the product is tumbled.

Take Control with Precise Lift and Slew Positioning
A mechanical ball screw system — driven by a hollow shaft motor reducer — ensures precise vertical lifting, and a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls the lift drive for extremely smooth start/stop movement. For safety, the system has a fail-safe brake (powered release type), and a secondary threaded profile in the ball nut shoulders the load, even in the event the ball bearings are lost.

A column-mounted, motor-driven worm screw running on a stationary bull gear enables precise slew (rotation) positioning, adjustable up to 270 degrees. This is far superior and significantly more accurate than a standard gear box can deliver.

Protect Your Investment with GLIDE-SEAL™ Slot Cover
Custom Powder Systems’ proprietary GLIDE-SEAL™ slot cover is a “rolling shade” style cover that closes the slot opening on the arm side of the lift. The shade travels in a groove track as the lift arm raises and lowers to seal and protect the column’s interior mechanicals.
