Proven Experience You Can Trust

Food and Beverage

Designing control systems for food and beverage applications has been a primary focus of BCI since the company's inception. BCI has completed projects as simple as PLC programming and as complex as a new 5000 I/O breakfast cereal line. Expertise in batching systems, extrusion automation and MES integration have allowed BCI to provide services to many food processing operations, including snack foods, cereals, treats, bakeries, breweries, beverages, etc.

Petfood / Aquaculture

Leveraging its extrusion automation and batching systems design expertise, BCI is a recognized authority on control systems for petfoods and treats manufactured using the extrusion process. The company lectures annually for petfood short courses in the university setting and has published articles and technical papers in magazines such as Petfood Industry. BCI’s expertise extends well beyond batching and extrusion to a broad range of projects, from simple PLC programming to plant-wide automation projects, including an MES interface to the business information system.

Feed and Grain

Today's feed and grain milling operations demand robust, reliable batching control systems. In addition to new federal mandates requiring a system capable of ingredient tracking and traceability, many mills are looking to maximize the performance and capacity of their operations with sophisticated systems offering recipe/formula management, lot tracking, quality assurance measures and valuable reporting tools. BCI has provided flexible feed mill automation solutions that optimize process cycle times and equipment utilization, as well as synchronizing mill floor operations with the enterprise business system through implementation of a MES integration strategy.

Pharmaceutical

In the high-risk, high-reward environment of pharmaceutical manufacturing, it is important to place your trust in a systems integrator capable of handling the complexities of your process and meeting federal compliance measures, such as 21 CFR Part 11. Whether providing services directly or working closely with OEMs such as Custom Powder Systems and AZO, BCI has provided precision controls and automated systems for many pharmaceutical clients over the past two decades, including IBC handling/containment, batching systems and MES integration.

Plastics

BCI has provided controls and automation for the plastics manufacturing industry. Processes such as batching and compounding can benefit greatly from a reliable control system capable of recipe/formula management, ingredient and product tracking, and data collection and reporting. Companies gain even more efficiency by integrating the plant floor with the corporate business system (MES integration) to give management near real-time information they can use for critical decisionmaking. Some services BCI has provided the plastics industry include scheduling and high-end batching systems, bar code lot tracking, batching with color control, and complete material batching, mixing, and delivery for pipe extrusion.

Ethanol / Alcohol Distillation

Complex processes, such as ethanol and alcohol distillation, require precise and sophisticated control systems. BCI has extensive experience with these processes and has gained an understanding of the nuances and requirements of this type of system. BCI has integrated control systems into existing plant environments, as well as implementing new systems requiring strategic planning and architecture design.

Specialty Chemicals

A diversity of experience and expertise has led BCI into a variety of industrial processes, including the manufacturing and production of specialty chemicals and materials. Depending on the application and chemicals being used, BCI has provided accurate, reliable control applications for batching, production, and other parts of the manufacturing process. These projects included work with pharmaceutical products, scientific research products, food and starch ingredients and resins, and other specialty chemicals.

Metal Forming

In the metal forming industry, minimizing scrap and maximizing efficiency can directly impact and improve the bottom line. Using the power of BCI SCHEDULER™, BCI seamlessly connects data from the production environment to the corporate IT system, providing near real-time information management can use to make critical business decisions.

Utilities — Power/Water/Wastewater

BCI leverages its unique combination of engineering expertise, systems integration experience and industry relationships to offer municipalities and large industrial producers cost-effective tools to help maximize power generation, water and wastewater utility resources. Using BCI UTILIWARE, including BCI POWER VIEW™, BCI offers monitoring, data collection and control services.

Information Technology

BCI is a licensed engineering firm and Microsoft Certified Partner and delivers a staff of professionals certified in Microsoft and Novell systems administration. Bachelor Controls’ IT specialists have gained extensive experience in the design, implementation, and support of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) in multiple conditions, from unique manufacturing environments to typical office and administrative settings. The company's expertise extends from individual computer troubleshooting and office standards adherance to large-scale network infrastructure management and federal compliance actions (such as HIPAA compliance in the health care industry).
